NOW HIRING: Remote Eligible Litigation Attorney
Job and Firm Description:
Kennaday Leavitt PC, a leading healthcare and employment defense firm in California, is looking for an attorney with 2 – 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in employment law, to bolster its ever-expanding practice.
Kennaday Leavitt has decades of experience litigating healthcare and employment matters in state and federal courts. Its healthcare attorneys represent health plans and other healthcare payors in disputes with providers and regulators, and its employment attorneys advise and defend both public and private employers against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, defamation, and other related claims under state and federal statutes, as well as wage and hour disputes.
Kennaday Leavitt is looking for a self-motivated attorney who is ready for the opportunity to manage their own cases in a collaborative environment with recognized experts, while bolstering their skillset and knowledge bases in healthcare and/or employment litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all aspects of the litigation process – including pre-litigation investigations, discovery, law and motion practice, trial, and appeals – for a variety of matters in federal and state courts, in administrative proceedings before state and federal regulatory agencies, and in contractual arbitrations.
The successful candidate can expect autonomy over their work and ample client contact, as well as ongoing mentorship from the firm’s partners and other senior-level attorneys so they can continue to develop and progress.
Actual Work/Life Balance:
Kennaday Leavitt firmly believes that we can provide top-notch legal services to blue chip clients while not just paying lip service to a work/life balance for our attorneys. We pride ourselves on providing a flexible, positive work environment with flexible work options. That includes fully remote, hybrid, and in-office opportunities, as well as a reduced billable requirement of just 1,400 hours for qualifying attorneys.
Location:
Kennaday Leavitt maintains an office in downtown Sacramento, California, but its attorneys are located throughout the West Coast.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $185,000 depending on experience, location, and hours worked, plus recurring subjective and objective performance-based bonuses. Kennaday Leavitt also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance, as well as 401k contributions.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree from an accredited law school, be licensed and admitted to practice in the state of California, and be in good standing with the California State Bar.
Qualified candidates should be able to accurately and precisely articulate the critical issues in a case, and they must be experienced in propounding and responding to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission. They must be proficient in taking and defending depositions. And they must possess strong research and writing skills, with a demonstrable background in law and motion practice. Qualified candidates are also expected to possess excellent communication skills, exercise good judgment, and exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with clients, other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
Application Process:
Interested applicants should email a resume, cover letter, and recent writing sample to Allison Nye at anye@kennadayleavitt.com. Resumes should include a detailed description of employment history, including dates of employment.
